Associate Research Fellow

Dr Diana I. Popescu

Diana Popescu’s research focuses on contemporary public history and public reception of violent histories, particularly of the Holocaust. Her most current work looks at the ethics and the aesthetics of representing racial violence in public art, museum exhibitions and memorial projects and at how members of the public engage with and respond to such representations.

Diana is co-editor of Revisiting Holocaust Representation in the Post-Witness Era (Palgrave, 2015), and of the Special Issue ‘Performative Holocaust Commemoration in the 21st century’ in the Holocaust Studies Journal (2019). She serves on the editorial board of Genocide Studies and Prevention: An International Journal (GSP).
