ASSOCIATE RESEARCH FELLOW

Dr David Ranan

David Ranan studied Economics at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (BA) and Business Administration at the Tel Aviv University (MBA) and holds a PhD from City University London. He is a Fellow of the Zentrum für Antisemitismusforschung, Technische Universität, Berlin.

David Ranan is currently editing a compendium of twenty-five essays that investigate loaded terminology and buzzwords – and how these may be instrumentalised to further political aims. Under the title SprachGewalt: Missbrauchte Wörter und andere politische Kampfbegriffe, this book is due to be published by the Dietz Verlag, Bonn, in 2021.

In his next project, he hopes to be studying issues that some diaspora communities have with their “home” countries. In this context, he will probe changing perceptions of Zionism and Antisemitism, the challenges these pose, and the possible ensuing personal dissonance and dilemmas facing Israeli and non-Israeli Jews.
