This international research project has been devised by Professor David Feldman, Director of the Pears Institute, in collaboration with Professor Arieh Kochavi, Herzl Institute for the Research and Study of Zionism, University of Haifa.
Through a series of workshops in five countries the project seeks to explore the ways Muslims and Jews experience and respond to multiculturalism, antisemitism and Islamophobia today. The workshops will also examine the phenomena of antisemitism, Islamophobia and racism more broadly, both in the context of these multicultural societies, and in relation to contemporary attitudes towards Israel.
Three other research centres are participating in this interdisciplinary project: the Centre National de la Recherche Scientific, Paris; Center for Research on Antisemitism, Technical University, Berlin; and the Taub Center for Israel Studies, New York University.
The first workshop, organized by the Pears Institute for the study of Antisemitism, took place in London in February 2012. Find Out More » Subsequent workshops will be held in Haifa (January 2013), Paris, Berlin and New York.
The Muslims and Jews project will give rise to a report which will be addressed to policy makers and interested groups both in Israel and Europe.Posted: February 2012
