Dr Tristram Hunt

Tristram Hunt is Member of Parliament (Labour Party) for Stoke-on-Trent Central and Senior Lecturer in Modern British History at Queen Mary, University of London. During his academic career he has been Associate Fellow at the Centre for History and Economics, King’s College, Cambridge and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research. He has also worked as a history broadcaster, presenting radio and television programmes for the BBC and Channel 4.

Since entering Parliament, Tristram has focused on the regeneration needs of Stoke-on-Trent. He is Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Rt. Hon. Liam Byrne MP (Labour Party Policy Review), Member of the Select Committee on Political and Constitutional Reform, and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Energy Intensive Industries. Tristram is the author of several books and makes regular contributions to The Guardian and The Observer.

Professor Mark Kleinman

Mark Kleinman is Assistant Director of Economic and Business Policy at the Greater London Authority (GLA). He is a specialist on urban economics, social and urban policy and migration. He has taught at the London School of Economics and at the University of Bristol, where he was Professor of International Social Policy. He is currently a Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy, University of Cambridge.

Mark has held various roles in government: working on migration policy in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit; Head of Housing and Homelessness in the GLA; and as Director of Urban Policy in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (now the Department of Communities and Local Government). Mark has also been a consultant to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the European Commission. He is the author or co-author of over 100 books, articles and papers.

Professor Francesca Klug

Francesca Klug is a Professorial Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Director of the Human Rights Futures Project. She is attached to the Centre for the Study of Human Rights and the Law School and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the LSE's Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion.

Francesca has advised government on human rights and equality law, working on the Human Rights Act 1998 and on the Equality Act 2006. Francesca was a Commissioner on the Equality and Human Rights Commission, 2006-2009. She has also acted as a Specialist Adviser to the Joint Committee on Human Rights. She sits on the Advisory Board of the British Institute of Human Rights, the Liberty Council and the Runnymede Trust Academic Forum. Francesca is a member of the Political Quarterly Editorial Board, has written widely on human rights and has been a frequent broadcaster.
